Effect of Hydrogen on Electrochemical Behavior and Stress Corrosion Cracking in NaNO2 Solution for Copper

  • Ultimate tensile strength, elongation and area reduction of charged specimen with hydrogen were the same as that of uncharged specimen, i.e., there is no hydrogen embrittlement for copper. However, fracture stress and fracture time of SCC of charged specimen in NaNO2 solution were lower than that of uncharged specimens,i.e., hydrogen enhanced the suscepetibility to SCC for Cu. On the other hand, Hydrogen reduced corrosion potential and impedance.
