Formation Mechanism of Hercynite Contained in Ceramic Layer of Ceramic Lined Steel Pipe

An investigation on the amount, the distribution, and the formation mechanism of hercynite (FeO. Al₂O₃) contained in the ceramic layer of ceramic lined steel pipes is performed by means of theoretical analysis and experiment. As a result,the amount of hercynite is decreased to 5.6%, and hercynite is isolated in Al₂O₃ grain boundary to improve the corrosion resistance of ceramic layers.
