Synthesis of Ca-α-Sialon-SiC Powders from Blast Furnace Slag and Optimization of Its Synthesis Process

  • Blast furnace slag is a kind of metallurgical solid wastes. In order to make better use of it and enhance its additional value, Ca-α-Sialon-SiC powders were synthesized from blast furnace slag and some additives by carbothermal reduction and nitridition (CRN) based on thermodynamic analysis. The content of Ca-a-Sialon in the sintered samples was up to 81%. The synthesis process of CRN was optimized by Statistical Pattern Recognition (SPR) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN).
