Review on the influencing factors of reduction disintegration performance of iron ore oxidized pellets

  • In blast furnace and gas-based shaft furnace processes, to guarantee good furnace conditions, it is necessary to ensure that the rising reducing gas can quickly and evenly pass through the burden. The low-temperature reduction disintegration and reduction swelling of iron ore pellets are the two main reasons for deteriorating the permeability of the burden. This paper mainly reviews the factors affecting the low-temperature reduction disintegration performance of iron ore oxidized pellets and discusses the main measures to improve the low-temperature reduction disintegration performance of pellets on this basis. The main factors affecting the low-temperature reduction disintegration performance of pellets include the chemical composition of pellets (basicity, SiO2, MgO, Al2O3 content, etc.), phase composition and microstructure, etc. In actual production, the low-temperature reduction disintegration performance of pellets can be improved by optimizing the composition (appropriately increasing the basicity or MgO content, etc.) and phase composition (developing liquid phase consolidation) of pellets, regulating the pore structure of pellets (spraying or coating to reduce the porosity of pellets) and improving the mechanical strength of pellets, thereby reducing the reduction rate, reducing the internal stress generated during the reduction process, and improving the low-temperature reduction disintegration performance of pellets.
