Abstract: This paper summarizes the application and award of research funding in the Mining and Metallurgical Engineering discipline at the Department of Engineering and Materials Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2026. A detailed analysis is conducted from the following four research fields: (1) petroleum engineering; (2) mining engineering; (3) safety science and engineering; (4) metallurgy and material processing engineering. This paper also introduces the development strategies of the discipline and proposes the next steps for continuous improvement.
