In the structure of prefabricated utility tunnel, the joint is the weak link of the structure, and its mechanical properties directly affect the deformation and bearing capacity of the whole structure. In this paper, a new type of prefabricated double cabin utility tunnel with "U-shaped ferrule joint bars connection" is proposed. Through the full-scale test of four joints, including one bottom L-shaped assembly side joint specimen, one bottom L-shaped cast-in-place contrast joint specimen, one top L-shaped assembly joint specimen, and one bottom T-shaped assembly joint specimen, the validity of the connection method was verified. The test obtained the mechanical properties of the joint full-scale specimen such as cracking load, crack development law, bearing capacity, failure mode, and member ductility. The test results show that: the specimens of the new prefabricated utility tunnel joints all have flexure-shear failures near the corner points, which have high bearing capacity and ductility; Using "U-shaped ferrule joint bars" has reliable performance and can obtain mechanical properties equivalent to those of cast-in-place joint specimens.
