Exploration and practice of integrated technology of coalbed methane development-gas control-methane emission reduction

  • Coalbed methane (coal mine gas, methane, CBM) is a hydrocarbon gas resource associated with coal. It is of great significance for energy security and environmental protection to coordinate the ‘triple’ attributes of coal methane energy gas, disaster gas and greenhouse gas. The author has conducted in-depth discussions on CBM development, coal seam outburst reduction and outburst elimination, and methane emission reduction technologies. It is concluded that the space-time relationship of the whole life cycle of the coordinated development of CBM and coal, the extensive development of tectonic coal in the coal-bearing area, and the easy outburst of coal and gas lead to long-term constraints on the efficient exploration and development of CBM, effective gas control and comprehensive utilization of methane in coal mine areas. This paper systematically reviews the problems and challenges faced by the key technologies of coalbed methane development, gas control and methane emission reduction in coal mine areas. An integrated technology system of CBM development-gas control-methane emission reduction is proposed, which integrates ' integrated deployment and continuous extraction technology of surface wells before coal mining-in-mining-after coal mining ', ' joint deployment and collaborative extraction technology of surface wells extraction-underground extraction wells in coal mining area ', ' integrated technology of CBM development of tectonic coal and outburst reduction and outburst elimination of coal seam ' and ' cascade development and utilization of coal methane with high concentration-medium and low concentration-ultra low concentration ( high-medium and low-ultra low concentration ) and atmospheric emission control technology. In the future, the integrated technology system is expected to play a greater role in the field of full-cycle continuous deployment and full-space joint extraction of coordinated development of coal and coalbed methane in China, new methods of gas control and full-life cycle methane concentration cascade utilization technology system in coal mine production, and promote the effective exploration and development of coalbed methane in coal mine areas in China-effective gas control-engineering application and development of coal methane full concentration emission reduction technology and atmospheric emission control technology. It is concluded that the effective path of coal methane emission reduction in China is to continuously improve and implement the policy of coal mine gas emission reduction and utilization, construct the technical system of dynamic monitoring and control of coal mine methane in the whole life cycle, establish the demonstration mining area of industrialization and commercial operation base of comprehensive utilization of high-medium-low-ultra-low concentration coal methane, and realize the healthy operation and maintenance of coal methane emission reduction.
