Precipitation of Cementite from Pure Iron after Rapid Cooling

  • The experiments have been carried out to carefully investigate precipitation of cemenhte from pure iron during rapid cooling. By TEM, it was observed that the cemenhte, also called as the thini cemenhte, precipitated on the grain boundray from supersoluable alpha ferrite, and its shape, which is usually spheroidal or filmy, depends on the carbon content of the pure iron.
