Microstructure and Metal Distribution in Jinchuan Nickel Smelting Slag

Phase composition of water quenched slap from the Jinchuan nickel flash smelting process and on the presence forms of copper and nickel in the slag is carried out using comprehensive modern analyse methods such as XRD, light microscope, SEM and EPMA. The results show that there are three main textures in the slag:(Fe,Mg)₂SiO₄-type crystalline Phase, glassy Phase and small(micrometer-size) sulphide droplets. Elements Cu and Ni are Present in the form of small droplets of mixed Cu,Ni,Fe-sulfides within the slag. Ni is also found as minor component of the crytalline(Fe,Mg)₂SiO₄-type Phase. Cu in not Present in the silicate part of the slag.
