Abstract
Superficial banded structure was observed on hot strips of low carbon steel. The formation mechanism of the banded structure was discussed and some measures were proposed to minimize the superficial flows. Experiments were carried out on the surface local elongation of cold bending specimens with 8 mm and 5 mm in thickness respectively. The results indicated that the bending flaws of thick strips arise mainly from the existing of the superficial banded structure.
