Precipitation behavior of Ti-deoxidized products in non-quenched and tempered steel

Abstract
SEM and image analysis technique were used to investigate the morphology, chemical composition and size distribution of inclusions and the effect of holding time on the size distribution of inclusions in a non-quenched and tempered steel deoxidized by Ti. The results showed that the deoxidation product of Ti in liquid steel could become the nucleus of MnS in solidification of liquid steel. After adding Ti, inclusions in the steel were finely distributed. A proper holding time could make inclusions fine. The grains were fine after adding Ti in the steel.
